
Treasurer
Jordan Claboine, O.D. obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Prior to that, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida.
Dr. Claboine practices general optometry with a passion for providing exceptional vision and ocular health care to his patients. His extensive clinical training and externship experiences have enriched his expertise in the field. Dr. Claboine's dedication to community service is evident through his involvement in various outreach programs, such as participating in Student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH) and traveling to Ghana to perform eye exams and provide spectacle correction to populations in need.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Claboine has demonstrated strong leadership qualities throughout his career. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the National Optometric Association (NOA) and has served as Trustee for the Broward County Optometric Association (BCOA).
In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, Dr. Claboine received several honors and awards, such as the Mutti Scholarship for inspiring others, the Student Leader of the Year award for his exceptional dedication to student welfare, and The Dr. Lyle Aloysius John Gassmann Memorial Award, recognizing his humanitarian characteristics, leadership qualities, and service to others. With a commitment to excellence, community service, and continuous learning, Dr. Jordan Claboine is a valuable asset to the field of optometry. When he is not seeing patients, he enjoys Muay Thai and traveling to National Parks.

President Elect
Shawn H. Hobbs, O.D. is an optometrist at Commonwealth Eye Care Associates, serving patients in Henrico and Colonial Heights, VA. Dr. Hobbs specializes in comprehensive consultation and co-management, treatment of eye diseases and pre and post-surgical care.
Dr. Hobbs attended Montclair State University in New Jersey, graduating with a major in biology. He then attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, receiving his optometry degree.
He served his internship at the Omni Eye Centers of New Jersey and VA Hospital of Newington, where he focused on the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. He then spent an additional year in an ocular disease residency at the Eye Institute of Essex, Clara Mass Hospital, New Jersey.
Dr. Hobbs entered into a group MD/OD practice in 1994 as the Optometric Director. Since then, he has worked in that same capacity at several large group practices in Richmond. He has served as a liaison between the MD and OD communities, educating both on the value of an integrated co-management model.
In 2000, Dr. Hobbs became an owner / partner at Commonwealth Eye Care Associates where he continues to develop an integrated eye care system of co-management with the OD community. Dr. Hobbs has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with eye diseases as well as pre and postoperative care. Dr. Hobbs is the past President of the Richmond Optometric Society. He was appointed to the Virginia Board of Optometry in 2024 and currently serving his 4 year term. He was voted "Top Doc” in Richmond Magazine again in 2025, receiving this honor 4 years in a row. He is actively involved in the optometric community and lectures both locally and nationally.
When Dr. Hobbs isn’t out cruising the country backroads on his motorcycle, he can be found playing golf or working out in the gym.

President
Dr. Mark Orso is a proud native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He pursued both his undergraduate education and Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University, completing his studies between 1979 and 1986. Following graduation, he served with distinction as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1989, working as a staff optometrist.
Upon returning to Cincinnati in 1989, Dr. Orso began his professional career at York Optometrists. In early 1990, he entered private practice with LensCrafters/Luxottica as a sublease doctor through Sight and Save. When Sight and Save dissolved in 1994, his Northgate location officially became a LensCrafters, where he has continued to practice as a sublease doctor to this day.
Dr. Orso has been an active member of the National Optometric Association (NOA) since 1984. Over the years, he has served in numerous leadership roles including Region II Trustee, Treasurer, Vice President, President-Elect, and currently serves as President.

OD, FAAO, FORS, FNAP
Dr. Joseph Pizzimenti received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, and completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Rehabilitative Optometry at the University of Houston. He is a recognized clinician and educator and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and the Optometric Retina Society (ORS), serving as ORS President from 2014-2014.
Dr. Pizzimenti’s area of clinical research include diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, and vitreomacular adhesion. His scientific articles have appeared in a host of peer-reviewed journals, and he regularly lectures on posterior segment disease. Dr. Pizzimenti was awarded a Fellowship by the World Council of Optometry in 2006,
resulting in an appointment to teach and evaluate optometric education programs in Central Europe.
Dr. Pizzimenti has been a faculty member at Nova Southeastern University and currently at the University of the Incarnate Word, serving with distinction at both institutions. Dr. Pizzimenti enjoys living in central Florida as well as traveling with his wife and grown children.

OD
Dr. Lisa Hornick has over 20 years of clinical experience and currently practices at Stanford Ranch Optometry in Rocklin, CA where she is the Director of the Dry Eye Services. She received her doctorate in optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry where she attended on a US Navy scholarship. Dr. Hornick is therapeutics and glaucoma-certified. She practices full-scope optometry and is especially passionate about treating ocular surface and dry eye disease. Dr. Hornick is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She is a member and past president of the Sacramento Valley Optometric Society. Dr. Hornick has lectured on dry eye disease nationwide and in Canada. She has many published articles on the topics of dry eye disease and nutrition. She has also been on numerous podcasts and media interviews discussion dry eye disease and women in leadership. Dr. Hornick graduated with her MBA from University of California, Davis n 2023 with a concentration in entrepreneurship, innovation and consulting. She was the recipient of the Theia Award of Excellence in Leadership from Women in Optometry in 2025.

Vice President
Brittany Wright is an optometrist and assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center, University of Colorado School of Medicine. Originally from Chicago, IL, she attended undergraduate and graduate school at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry, graduating with honors. During her time at SCO, she most proudly served as an SCO Ambassador, chapter and national president for the National Optometric Student Association and national vice president of Gold Key International Optometric Leadership Honor Society.
Dr. Wright completed her residency training in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. She then went on to join the faculty at the UMSL College of Optometry, as an assistant clinical professor and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Along with didactic instruction in ophthalmic optics, eye health management, and clinical optometry, she supported patient care and student clinical education in UMSL eye centers across the St. Louis metropolitan area. In 2024, she joined the University of Colorado Department of Ophthalmology as Assistant Professor, serving patients at the Boulder eye clinic. Her current practice and clinical interests include comprehensive care, pre- and post-operative surgical co-management, glaucoma, and posterior segment clinic support. Additionally, health equity strategy and implementation across eye care service delivery are of particular interest.
In additional to the National Optometric Association, Dr. Wright is an active member of several optometric and community organizations, including the American Academy of Optometry and American Optometric Association. She was honored to be selected as a 2024 Theia Award of Excellence recipient by Women in Optometry.
She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the front range of the Rockies, and attending live sports events!

Secretary
Dr. Tanya Carter is a Professor Emerita, at SUNY College of Optometry. She served in various positions over 30 years including as associate clinical professor for 3rd and 4th year interns, instructor of record for the geriatrics course, and ocular disease residency supervisor at Coler Memorial Hospital. Dr. Carter earned her Doctor of Optometry at SUNY Optometry in 1987 and completed a residency at St. Albans Veterans Administration Hospital. She recently received the recognition of The Distinguished Resident Alumni SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Carter received her BS degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Dr. Carter is in private practice in Montclair, NJ, where she serves as Chief Operating Officer of BNC Eyecare Group. Dr. Carter has served in several capacities on the board of the National Optometric Association (NOA) and has mentored numerous pre-optometry and NOSA students along their optometric journey. She is honored to have received the distinction of Student of the Year and Optometrist of the Year from the NOA. Dr. Carter has also received the Morton L. Kimmel Award for her student leadership.
In recognition of her commitment to serving her community, Dr. Carter has received various honors such as; Community Service Award from Service United Inc/juror Entrepreneurs, Ambassador of the 35th Annual Parade and Festival of Montclair, African American Heritage Foundation Inc. and The Township of Montclair, NJ proclamation recognizing BNC Eyecare Group for outstanding service to the community of Montclair.

OD, FAAO, FSLS, ABO Diplomate
Dr. Tucker is a graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry where she also completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency. During her residency, she received extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases, in complex contact lens fits and in myopia management.
Dr. Tucker is a partner at Bellaire Family Eye Care and The Contact Lens Institute of Houston, a private practice in the Houston, TX area where she primarily cares for patients in need of specialty contact lenses and myopia management. She is also a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry where she is the course master for the Ophthalmic Optics Laboratory. She regularly provides continuing education on the topics of anterior segment disease, specialty contact lenses, myopia management and ophthalmic optics. Dr. Tucker is a member of the Speaker’s Bureau for the Specialty Division of Bausch Lomb, a consultant for CooperVision, and a lecturer for the STAPLE (Soft Toric and Presbyopic Lens Experience) program. She also serves as the Secretary for both the Scleral Lens Education Society and the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section and is on the advisory board for the Gas Permeable Lens Institute. Dr. Tucker has been named by the World Council of Optometry as a Global Ambassador for Myopia Management and serves as the medical co-editor for Review of Myopia Management.

OD
Dr. Jacobi Cleaver is a proud graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He completed a primary care and ocular disease residency at the Thomas E. Creek VAMC in Amarillo, Texas. Dr. Cleaver is a Fellow and a Diplomate of the Anterior Segment Section of the American Academy of Optometry. He serves as a staff optometrist with the Baylor College of Medicine, practicing at the Martin Luther King Jr. Health Clinic.

Dr. Simmons completed undergraduate studies with honors at Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry in 2003. During her time at UMSL, Dr. Simmons was involved in various student organizations.
Upon graduation, Dr. Simmons pursued specialized training in Ocular Disease Management/Primary Care through an accredited residency program at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in Montrose, NY. During her residency, Dr. Simmons was nationally recognized at the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association where she presented several invited posters. Post residency, she worked in a variety of practice modalities and received additional training in refractive management, before joining the UMSL College of Optometry faculty in 2009.
Currently, Dr. Simmons serves at the Associate Dean of Student Services and Alumni Relations, precepts College of Optometry students at community-based clinics in St. Louis and East St. Louis, and is involved in various didactic courses in the curriculum. Dr. Simmons is the founder of Eyes on Community which seeks to introduce high school students to the profession of optometry. Dr. Simmons is a fellow of the AAO, faculty liaison for the MOA, and other university committees. She is the proud mom of 2 amazing kiddos, Michael and Mckensey, and pet parent to Barry!

Clinical Professor, Indiana University School of Optometry
Richard Trevino is a Clinical Professor at Indiana University School of Optometry where his teaching responsibilities include laser and minor surgical procedures. Prior to joining the IU faculty in 2021 he was at the Rosenberg School of Optometry where he served as Director of Residency Programs and Chief of the Ocular Health Service. His research interests are in the fields of glaucoma and optometric education. He is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
